Timing with orthodontics

Where a frenum is holding a midline gap open, we usually close the space with aligners or braces first and release the frenum towards the end. Releasing too early can allow scar tissue to form in the space and make closure harder.

Aftercare

Healing takes one to two weeks. Gentle stretching exercises keep the release open, and we show you exactly how to do them. Soft food for a couple of days and a prescribed rinse are usually all that is needed.
